Welcome to the North West & Mid Kent rugby website
We would like to welcome you all to the North West & Mid Kent Rugby website for schools. You will find all that you need to know about school rugby in Gravesham, Medway & Dartford. If you would like to seek further information please contact either Mr.G. Bright, Mr. A. Rowlinson or Mr. G. Gray. All contact details are on the teacher page.
Last year the rugby in NW & Mid Kent really took off with Mr. D.Coate from NTC leading the way. Mr. D. Coates has moved onto different pastures and we wish him well. We would really like to continue Mr D. Coates's hard work and progress the rugby in NW & Mid Kent even further.
The current 2013/14 league format is a more structured format for schools in the Gravesham, Medway & Dartford area to play competitive and fair fixtures against one another. The aim is to get more rugby under the student’s belts. There will be home and away fixtures played between the schools and results will be collated into a league format. The top two schools from each year group will then play in a final held at Gravesend RFC at the end of season.
Previously we organised our fixtures and sent results to Mr. D. Coate which were updated to the website. Fixtures will now be
organised for everyone in the summer term and distributed before the term ends so that all schools are aware of their fixtures and so they know when they are due to play each school at the start of the term.
The responsibility lies with both schools heads of rugby (contact list on the teacher page) to organise the fixture for the week stipulated by the fixture diary. If the fixture does not go ahead then the school that cannot field a team will be penalised and the points will go to the team who could field a team for that week (please see scoring and rules page for further details).
If the home teacher of the games played could email Mr. G. Gray from Gravesend Grammar the result, he will collate the results and into the league format on this website. Mr. G. Gray will then send out a message on Monday morning to say that the website is updated with all the results and fixtures from the previous week. Please see our scoring and rules section for further details.
The rugby season will change from last year. We will now run from the following times:
September – Early November
February - April
There are festivals that are normally held between February – April and we will making sure that we can still attend these as well as our own fixtures.
There are always going to be teams that are considerably weaker or stronger in these leagues and we all must provide suitable/similar standard opposition for them, as we do not want one team completely over powering another. That is not part of the school rugby ethos. Please can you make everyone aware the strength or your sides so we can all enjoy the rugby with our student’s?
In addition to school rugby in year 10 &11 Mr A. Rowlinson & Mr G. Bright will be running another district side which is a combination of all the best players in the local schools to compete against the best rugby schools in Kent in an A listed league. Please contact either teacher about this, or browse the link under district rugby for further details.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all an excellent season and we hope that all players and coaches enjoy it.
Many thanks,
Gavin Bright, Gary Gray & Adam Rowlinson
